I am a special education teacher who is currently working with a
student in Kindergarten. She has typical problems for a child her
age; however, she remains to have difficulty remembering the spelling
of her name. She can print the letters, but can not state them. She
also has typical fine motor problems, but nothing serious.
I realize this seems minor, but after using several multi-sensory
techniques to help her recognize/identify the letters she still
remains ....... in the dark.
Does anyone know if spinal meningitis shortly after birth can or could
cause a learning disability?
A friend of mine, a neurologist, has a child who had spinal meningitis
when she was three. There was substantial sequelae in motor and mental
areas. It alsoleft my friend with a great big hole in his heart, as he
watched his daughter lose function every moment he watched her.
