I am looking for information on Spinal
stenosis , treatments, ways to manage pain, antecdotal information etc. My
dad was recently diagnosed and is having a terrible time. He has just had 2
cortisone epidural injections, had tried accupunture and physical therapy.
After a terrible experience with spinal stenosis, and visiting several
doctors, I went to the Mayo Clinic at Jacksonville, FL. By the time I got
there I was getting better, and hence they recommended no surgery. However
they indicated there was a 50% chance that sometime I would have an "attack"
and not get better, at which time surgery would be the only option.
Meanwhile they gave me a set of exercises to do which take only 15-30
minutes per day. The exercises are supposed to help prevent an attaack, but
they actually make me feel better right away.
Mayo now has clinics in Rochester, Minnesota, Jacksonville, FL, and
somewhere in Arizona. You can make your own appointment.
