The girl's fingers and hands periodically become swolen and "hot". She

Is this condition related to the Spina-Bifida Occulta? If not what
condition do these symptoms suggest?
Any recommendations to where this condition can be properly treated will
be greatly apprectiated. They have had little success so far. What
treatments do you suggest? Where can they get more information?
Spina bifida occulta is only a failure of complete fusion of the
posterior elements of the spinal canal (laminae). This is only a bony
defect and should have nothing to do with the symptoms mentioned. If the
hands feel hot to the examining physician, this may suggest autonomic
dysfunction. There may be no treatment for the above condition. I am
assuming, of course, that there is no entrapment of neural elements in
the bony spinal defect.
