can you give me some info about acupuncture which can treat many problems related to spinal cord injury?

Question:
I have been seeing an acupuncturist to treat many problems related to spinal cord injury, including pain, poor circulation, loss of sensation and movement, and chronic urinary tract infections. Over a 6-month period (2.5 years post-injury) I have noticed a 10% increase in sensation below the level of my injury (C7) and marked improvement in muscle movement down to S1. I have searched the WWW for others using acupuncture to treat SCI but have not found anything. Has anyone else heard of it or tried it? If so, what worked? What didn't work?

Answer:
I am a nurse, working in a neurosurgical intensive care. I have a particular interest in both SCI and alternative therapies. I do not know anything abuot the use of acupuncture with SCI however. i am eager to here more about what you have experienced and learned.
